The past week saw the bond rate creep up marginally. There has been no changes in fixed or variable rate mortgages. We are seeing 5 year mortgages in the 3.14-3.39% range and variable rate mortgages as low as prime -.2%

The bond rate has inched upwards the past 7 days. There has been no changes in fixed or variable rate mortgages. We are seeing 5 year mortgages in the 3.19-3.39% range, 10 year mortgages are still being offered at 3.89% and variable rate mortgages as low as prime -.2%.

Market Update...

The bond rate hit a low for 2011 on Dec. 19th. There have been marginal increases since then but the it still remains at close to record lows.
Fixed rate mortgages remain at historical lows ranging from 3.24-3.49% range. Variable rate mortgages are from prime to prime... [ more ]

With the continued focus on the European Debt situation, bond rates hit the low mark for this year. This bodes well for long term rates staying low for the immediate future. No changes in the fixed or variable rates.

The bond rate stayed low and stable all week. Continued concerns over the European Debt situation (now Italy) has kept it extreme low. There have been a few minor rate drops this week. Five year mortgages can be obtained as low as 3.29% (some conditions apply).

The Bank of Canada met today and saw no reason to move its key lending rate from 1.00%, where it has been for a little over a year.
That's precisely what the market anticipated and it means prime rate (which is the basis for variable mortgage rates) should remain at 3.00%.
